Hua Mui x OPPO at AEON Mall Tebrau City: Old Taste, New Shot
One of the strangest brand pairings in JB this month is hiding on the first floor of AEON Mall Tebrau City. Hua Mui, the Hainanese restaurant that has been on Jalan Trus since 1946, has set up a pop-up with OPPO from 14 to 19 July 2026, and the concept is exactly what it sounds like: eat heritage food, play games, and handle OPPO's latest devices in the same visit. Lot F65, the restaurant's actual unit at Tebrau City, is the anchor.
The pop-up is tagged "Eat. Play. Win." and the play layer is built around the new OPPO Reno 16. Visitors can explore the device, snap photos, and join the Hua Mui x OPPO photography contest that the restaurant has been running across its outlets. The contest side has a clever hook: if you don't own an OPPO phone, you can try the Reno 15 5G for free at selected Hua Mui outlets to take your contest shot, which turns the pop-up into a demo floor as much as a food activation.
Why Hua Mui, and Why Tebrau City
Hua Mui is one of Johor Bahru's oldest Hainanese coffee shops, with over 70 years of history on the original Jalan Trus location. The Tebrau City outlet is the brand's mall-format extension, bringing the heritage Hainanese menu, think chicken rice, kaya toast and the old-school coffee routine, into a modern F&B unit.
