Toppen Foodland names first tenants ahead of December 2026 opening in Johor Bahru

Toppen Shopping Centre in Johor Bahru is giving the public a first look at Toppen Foodland, a dedicated social dining hub scheduled to open in December 2026. Construction is already underway. The centre announced the project in March 2026 and, on 17 August 2026, confirmed the first wave of tenants for a 35,000-square-foot dining floor with 32 outlets.

The new space sits on the Ground Floor and is meant to work with Jaya Grocer as a one-stop lifestyle and dining stop. Inline restaurants and Grab & Go kiosks will share a modern industrial-inspired setting. Toppen positions the hub as Johor Bahru’s first dining destination of this kind at the mall, aimed at people looking for variety, convenience, and a place to meet family and friends.

How the dining floor is taking shape

Toppen Foodland spans more than 35,000 square feet and will house 32 concepts. The mix covers sit-down restaurants and quicker kiosks rather than a single food-court format. Management says the floor is designed as a dedicated dining destination, not a side offering, and that it continues the mall’s effort to keep pace with how Johoreans eat and spend time together.

Sergey Aristarkhov, Toppen Shopping Centre Manager, said Johor Bahru’s dining scene keeps shifting as people look for more choice and experiences that bring groups together. He said the hub was curated around those needs, with concepts for different tastes, occasions, and lifestyles. Expanding food and beverage is only part of it: the centre wants a place people use for everyday meals as well as longer gatherings.

Aristarkhov also said the tenant list mixes local favourites, international brands, and first-to-market names. Some brands are arriving in Johor Bahru for the first time. Others are entering a shopping centre for the first time. The stated aim is a line-up people will return to, and a stronger role for Toppen as a dining, leisure, and community destination.

First tenants: Johor debuts, Malaysia debuts, and mall firsts

Ahead of the December opening, Toppen has named the first confirmed operators. Several are new to Johor Bahru, new to a mall setting, or new to Malaysia.

Sukiyaki, a Japanese steamboat and yakiniku buffet, is making its Johor debut after opening its first Malaysian outlet at The Exchange TRX in Kuala Lumpur. Homegrown brand Lazy Monday, recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records for producing the country’s largest burger, is bringing Western-inspired food into a shopping centre for the first time.

Sopoong will open its second Johor outlet, serving Korean comfort food based on recipes meant for sharing. Sushi Plus will add a contemporary conveyor-belt format that works for dine-in and grab-and-go. Luckin Coffee is bringing its coffee and drinks range to Johor. Bored Tacos, which started in Singapore, will make its Malaysian debut with Mexican-inspired dishes.

Yobe, known for frozen yogurt and a wide topping selection, is also on the list. B&B Bakery, a shiopan specialist, is appearing in a shopping centre for the first time. Together they cover Japanese buffet, Western burgers, Korean sharing plates, sushi, coffee, tacos, frozen yogurt, and Japanese-style bread, with more of the 32 outlets still to be named.

What this means for the Ground Floor

The dining hub is the next phase of Toppen’s shift into a lifestyle destination. With Jaya Grocer already on the Ground Floor, Foodland is meant to turn that level into a combined grocery, dining, and hangout floor rather than a typical mall food court tucked away from shops.

Toppen Shopping Centre is a 1.25 million square foot meeting place anchored by the first IKEA store outside the Klang Valley. The Foodland announcement sits inside that larger identity: a suburban Johor Bahru mall trying to hold people for meals and gatherings, not only for a shop-and-leave trip.

Leasing remains open. Enquiries go to leasing@ikano.asia. The centre is directing the public to toppen.my and to its Instagram and Facebook accounts for updates as more tenants are confirmed before December.
